I believe Pilates to be both practical and life-altering.
I came to the practice with a herniated disc that was hampering my dancing plans - just weeks before an audition for a masters program in dance. Through Pilates and body work alone I sailed through my injury in time to pursue an MFA just 8 months later. I can confidently attest to the transformative potential of this method.
I trained with Nora St. Jean and Naomi Leiserson at Turning Point Studios in Walnut Creek. (These are two of my Pilates heroes.) I have completed further studies in Pilates for Scoliosis with Karen Clippinger and Perinatal Pilates with Stephanie Forster. Additionally my teaching incorporates principles from Fascial Movement Training (inspired by Elizabeth Larkam), Bartenieff Fundamentals, Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, yoga, Axis Syllabus, neurology and the body wisdom gained from years of dance training.
I specialize in working with dancers, triathletes, pregnant and new mamas, and those recovering from musculo-skeletal injury. My practice is fat-friendly and welcomes people of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Contact me if you would like to pursue private study but require financial assistance.
In addition to my work as a Pilates instructor, I am also a grain-free baking aficionado, independent dance artist, and mama.
